Celebrate Museum Month in May at Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives


The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) celebrates Museum Month with a variety of exciting exhibitions, programs and special events.
From Family Art and Yoga, and Family Art and Stories programs, to the Museum Month Curator Talks, or to the inspiring Adventures in Oriental Rug Collecting discussion (enjoyed with a Turkish coffee), there is something for everyone this month at PAMA. To top it all off, enjoy free admission May 21 and 22.
Get creative as a family and celebrate Museum Month. There will be Family Art and Stories May 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Family Art and Yoga May 14 and 21 from to 3:30 p.m. As well, each moth, PAMA offers a special fun weekend family drop-in activity from 1 to 4:30 p.m. These sessions are free with admission and pre-registration is required.
Museum Month Lecture Series
The lectures take place every Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and are for everyone aged 16 and older. The topic tonight (Thursday) will be Through the Eyes of a Curator. Join PAMA Art Gallery Curator Thomas Smart for a curator's look at The Singh Twins: A Retrospective and Fabulous Fictions and Peculiar Practices: Tony Calzetta and Leon Rooke.
The topic May 26 will be Preserving your Family History. Join PAMA's Regional Archivist Jim Leonard as he goes through a helpful pointer of how to keep family treasures safe. These sessions are free with admission and pre-registration is required.
PAMA will be one of the hosts of the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD) May 6 to 8.
Join Leon Rooke as he reads from Fabulous Fictions and Peculiar Practices in the Art Gallery May 8 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Also, get creative in the special drop-in family fun activity May 7 and 8 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and create a Pop-Up book inspired by the exhibition on ­­­­­­Fabulous Fictions and Peculiar Practices. PAMA Kids PA Day
PA Day activities will be going on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Design and build with PAMA, Makerspace and the Brampton Library. Tour the Innovation in Peel exhibition at PAMA, gain inspiration and create an invention or instrument. Then, head to the Four Corners Brampton Library and bring it all to life using their ‘Makey Makey' kit.
Skype Q & A with the Singh Twins
PAMA will delve deeper into the work of the Singh Twins May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. Enjoy great local entertainment, tea, sweets and selfie fun! Admission for this event is $10 per person at the door or SHARE the event information on social media and gain free entry into the event!
Adventures in Oriental Rug Collecting
Join in the conversation with Oriental rug collectors Marshal and Marilyn Wolf and Judith Humphries May 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. as they take you through their collecting experience. To finish this inspirational afternoon, enjoy a Turkish coffee and a light snack courtesy of Constantinople Bakery and Coffee. This session is free with admission and pre-registration is required.
PAMA will be closed May 23 for the Victoria Day holiday.
PAMA is a place to explore and learn about Peel Region's culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community. Throughout the year, PAMA offers a variety of workshops and programs for all ages, families and adults
