At the beginning of April 2026, Caledon Council approved a motion to enter into a Micro-Transit Pilot Agreement with Argo Transit, bringing on-demand electric minibuses to Caledon communities, increasing transit options.

Commencing in the Fall of 2026, the 15-month pilot program will introduce Argo's on-demand transit service to Caledon.

Riders will be able to pre-book trips or request rides in real time through a mobile app or by phone.

The mini buses are fully electric, fit 18 at a time, are PRESTO-friendly, and are wheelchair accessible.

The pilot will serve Bolton, Caledon East, and Mayfield West/Southfields, as by the Town of Caledon, enabling the Town to evaluate the performance of an on-demand transit model in the local context. 

The service will also provide connections to Brampton Transit, York Region Transit, and GO Transit.

“Caledon continues to explore innovative solutions to improve how residents move throughout our community,” said Mayor Annette Groves. “This pilot reflects our commitment to delivering accessible, efficient and sustainable transit options while embracing new technologies that have the potential to improve service for our residents.”

Argo's Smart Routing technology will pick riders up at their door, and combine trips headed in the same direction, for the cost of a standard transit fare.

Argo Transit currently operates in Brampton and Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Following the pilot, as stated in an April Council meeting, Staff will report back to Council on the pilot, with a summary of the results, findings, and recommendations of the Argo Pilot project at the halfway mark and at the end of the pilot.
