Caledon resident Brady Robertson charged following crash that ‘devastated’ local family

Written By ALYSSA PARKHILL

A 20-year-old Caledon resident has been arrested and charged for his part in a crash that killed a local mother and her three daughters back on June 18.

37-year-old Karolina Ciasullo and her three daughters – Klara, 6, Lilianna, 3, and Mila, 1 were heading northbound on Torbram Rd in Brampton when they were struck by a Blue Infiniti, which was travelling at a “high rate of speed” according to police. The collision took the lives of Ciasullo and her three daughters and put the driver, identified by police as Brady Robertson (also known under the aliases Brady Robinson and Brady Mongrain), in the hospital.

Peel Regional Police confirmed that the 20-year-old was arrested on June 24 and has been charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

Robertson was charged with an additional count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, as it was confirmed that on June 16, Robertson had been made a suspect for another driving incident where he was involved in a minor vehicle collision at the intersection of Dougal and Kennedy Road in Caledon.

Robertson has been placed into custody and will attend a bail hearing on July 26.

Mayor Allan Thompson recently made a statement sharing his thoughts, feeling and grief with the community, and for the Ciasullo family.

“On behalf of Town Council and staff, I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to Michael, his entire family and friends as they attempt to deal with their grief,” said Mayor Thompson. “This sickening tragedy and the surrounding circumstances have rocked the Caledon community to its core. To have four of our residents needlessly taken from us brings with it feelings of enormous sadness, utter confusion and extreme anger. While these feelings may change over time, there will always be a hole in the Ciasullo circle of family and friends, and in the heart of Caledon, that will never be filled.”

The funeral for the mother and three daughters was held at the St. Eugene de Mazenod Catholic Church in Brampton, on June 25, surrounded by close friends and family.

Karolina's sister-in-law Connie Ciasullo read the eulogy on behalf of the family, reminiscing about memories of Karolina and her three nieces, from phone calls, to cheerful photos and stealing as much affection from the girls as she could.

“Karolina, Klara, Lilianna and Mila were Michael's girls. They were his entire world,” said Connie Ciasullo, Karolina's sister-in-law in the eulogy, overcome with emotion. “Karolina was very much his rock and north star. She was the glue that held everything together.”

Peel Regional Police is continuing to ask anyone with information to reach out to the Major Collision Bureau at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3710, or by visiting peelcrimestoppers.ca.
