Town tied for ninth nationally and was second among small municipalities

Last year's Culture Days in Caledon have been recognized for their success. 

At Caledon Council's January 7 meeting, Councillors celebrated Town Community Services staff for their contributions to making Culture Days a success. 

From September 20 to October 13 last year, 85 events were organized for Culture Days in Caledon. 

Culture Days is a celebration of arts, culture and heritage that happens in communities across Canada each year. It engages communities with free and pay-what-you-can activities like studio tours, performances, festivals, workshops, classes and more. 

In Culture Days' 2024 top participating communities listing, Caledon tied for ninth in the country and was second for small municipalities. 

“This recognition affirms that Caledon is a community of active champions and supporters of local arts, culture and heritage initiatives,” said Regional Councillor Christina Early.

Across Canada, there were over 4,000 events held for Culture Days this year attended by over 5 million people.

Pascale St-Onge, Minister of Canadian Heritage, said culture is a vector for identity, cohesion and unity.

“Arts and culture ensure the vitality of our communities by strengthening the bonds between people and creating enriching shared experiences. Culture Days is a great example of this. Every year, this event offers an array of activities to celebrate, discover and highlight arts and culture in communities across the country,” said St-Onge.
