Caledon Public Library’s Smile for the Library photo fundraiser returnsBy KATHRYN FRASER Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Caledon Public Library's “Smile for the Library: CPL Photo Fundraiser” is back and will be in full swing on August 28 from 10am to 3pm. Caledon families are invited to sign up to have professionally taken photographs to celebrate the end of summer before students head back to school. This is not the first time that the event will take place, but the fundraiser is normally held during the winter holidays instead of the end of summer. Attendees can select from three different types of packages each with their own prices and number of photos and prints that are included. $50 Package 15-minute photo session Three poses Three professionally edited digital photos $85 Package 15-minute photo session Three poses Three professionally edited digital photos Three 5×8 printed photos (one of each pose) Three 4×6 printed photos (one of each pose) $115 Package 15-minute photo session Three poses Three professionally edited digital photos Three 5×8 printed photos (one of each pose) Six 4×6 printed photos (two of each pose) All funds raised through this event will go towards the Caledon Public Library and will be able to go towards current needs in the library, such as new books and other resources that members of the library have requested. Jill Jambor, Manager of Communications and Cultural Development for the Caledon Public Library, is the main organizer for this event and is looking forward to seeing all the smiling faces of the members that attend. “This fundraiser brings together a few different parts of what we do – it was really inspired by families in the community, being inspired by seeing people discovering and making memories, enjoying time together in the library, that we wanted to give them an opportunity to make a memory and preserve it”, says Jambor. This event also aligns with the library's mission and values by encouraging and supporting lifelong learning by giving access to not only the event but everything else that the library has to offer. Being the first time that this event is running outside of the winter holidays, Jambor is hoping that families will use this opportunity to capture lifelong memories before their children start school. “We used to host this event closer to the holidays, like toward the end of the year. But this time, we're hosting it earlier because we wanted to capture the back-to-school time of year for kids and families,” says Jambor. Colleen Lipp, CEO and Chief Librarian of the Caledon Public Library, elaborated on how the funds that the event will go towards adding new things into the library, while offering an opportunity to hear from customers on what they would like the library to have as well. “What these raised funds allow us to do is to respond in a really kindly way to what we're hearing from our customers, and that it's sometimes adding to our library of things. We have regular recommendations of other things people would like to see in our collection,” says Lipp. “And that allows us to respond to that and add those things without having to try to secure funds and using next year's budget to do it. This allows us to go above and beyond what is funded through our tax supported budget.” If you're looking to make a lifelong memory and take once-in-a-lifetime professional family photos, come to the Caledon Public Library's Smile for the Library Fundraiser. |
