Caledon Public Library branches set to reopen with limited access July 21

With Peel Region officially entering Phase 2 of Ontario's economic reopening on June 24, businesses have begun the slow journey to reopen for the community.

The Caledon Public Library developed online and drop-off and pick-up services to limit human contact and help flatten the curve during the coronavirus pandemic. As safety measures ramp up, and more knowledge of the virus available, CPL is now feeling comfortable enough to slowly open their branches, using the same framework as the province; in stages.  

“Today we are excited to announce the reopening of our branches in a staged and careful way to make sure that we can safely provide access at a time when library service is more important than ever,” said CPL CEO and Chief Librarian, Colleen Lipp. “Effective July 21, 2020, CPL will be offering Limited Patron Access at select locations.”

Residents of the community will be allowed limited access to computer stations on a first come first serve basis, with a 30-minute time limit. 

The number of people will be strictly limited to avoid traffic and to avoid the risk of spread. 

“Residents are encouraged to plan their library visits with these conditions in mind. Unfortunately, not all of our branches are well suited to this type of access,” said Lipp.

The branches that will be providing the Limited Patron Access will be Albion Bolton, Alton and Caledon East branches. Caledon Village and Valleywood locations with remain offering their Contactless Holds Pickup service until it's decided to reopen them as well. 

CPL hours for all branches include 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
