On January 23, the Town of Caledon announced it had successfully prosecuted two trucking companies operating illegally at 6086 and 6186 Mayfield Road. Both of these companies were ordered by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice to stop using their properties as trucking depots.  “On January 18, 2023, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice found that 6086 Mayfield Inc. and 2652876 Ontario Inc. were using properties on Mayfield Road contrary to the Town's zoning and fill bylaws,” reads a January 23 statement from the Town. “The order prohibits 6086 Mayfield Inc. and 2652876 Ontario Inc. from continuing to illegally use their property as a trucking depot and orders they remove all illegal trucking equipment by an agreed upon date.” Mayor Annette Groves said with the Superior Court's decision, Caledon's fight against illegal trucking operations is gaining momentum. “Today's announcement reinforces our commitment to mitigating the negative impacts of illegal trucking in our town,” said Groves. Caledon's Director of Municipal Law Enforcement, Mark Sraga, echoed Groves in saying the successful prosecution demonstrates Caledon's commitment to eliminating illegal trucking operations.  “The Town will continue to take legal action against those who defy municipal bylaws to ensure Caledon remains an attractive location for businesses to succeed and benefit those who live here,” said Sraga. According to the Town, it began investigating the properties in June of 2020 when it received complaints of noise, debris, and property alterations. The two properties are directly across from a residential neighbourhood.  The Town is asking Caledon residents to report any suspected illegal trucking operations when they see them by calling 311 or emailing info@caledon.ca. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2023-01-26 11:15:49 Post date GMT: 2023-01-26 16:15:49 Post modified date: 2023-02-02 11:19:04 Post modified date GMT: 2023-02-02 16:19:04 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
