Caledon Meals on Wheels needs helpCaledon Meals on Wheels (CMOW) is reaching out to the community for help with their 2017 Wheels for Meals Lottery. “This is our main fundraiser for 2017, and will make up a significant portion of our budget, with the proceeds going to fund critical programs and services in our communities,” CMOW Executive Director Christine Sevigny said. “Poor weather and low attendance at events has hampered our efforts to sell tickets and with an August 31st lottery deadline, we are at crunch time and need help.” CMOW is a community volunteer-driven organization providing meals, services and social programs to residents living in the Town of Caledon, Orangeville and surrounding areas that are not covered by other organizations. In 2017, the agency will once again deliver more than 25,000 meals, facilitate over 16,000 safety checks and friendly visits, and run 12 health and wellness programs for seniors every week, as well as two monthly card party luncheons. The Wheels for Meals lottery has an impressive $57,000 prize package, featuring a 2017 Ford F150 Truck loaded with $1,500 worth of camping gear and two bicycles. Tickets are $20 each or three for $50, and with only 8,000 printed, the odds are great. “Our organization is so fortunate to have extraordinary staff, volunteers and corporate partners who have really stepped up to champion this initiative,” CMOW Board Chair Pina Marino commented. “Now we need to ask the greater community to help us get to the finish line.” For more information, or to purchase a ticket, call Caledon Meals on Wheels at 905-584-2992. |
