NPCC is hosting the event in an effort to celebrate the history, influence, and power of women while uplifting the voices of women and having important discussions. The forum is free, and all are welcome. “The reason is to celebrate women, not only in ministry but in our community,” said NPCC's Nerrissa Myers. “We know that sometimes women get left behind and they start off from behind. So, we want to celebrate all the women in our community for all the work they do. There's a saying that says, ‘behind every good man there's a strong woman,' and we can see that. Even during the pandemic so many women stepped forward on the frontline and at home. We want to take time to acknowledge them.  “We chose different women from various generations and walks of life to speak and give their input. We'll have questions such as, ‘if you had the opportunity to change something in this world, what would it be and what would it look like?' It's really a forum to gather women together and have those discussions to empower, celebrate, and lift each other up. It's not only for women either, we're inviting men to participate because we want them to come out and share and ask questions as well.” The EndeavHER forum isn't limited to those in the community either, NPCC's has speakers from across North America set to participate to allow for different voices with varying experiences to contribute to the conversation. “One of our leaders had the idea to celebrate and recognize women,” she said. “We'll have speakers participating from the U.S., that's the advantage of doing it virtually on Zoom, and we'll have speakers from here sharing their stories too. We'll look at the past and present and how some of them have been upholding and the struggles they've gone through. We also want to touch on intimate violence because sometimes the church doesn't discuss those things, but we want to acknowledge it—especially because during the pandemic we know there's been more domestic violence. We have a professional who will speak to that topic, and we have someone from law enforcement too.” The idea for the forum came together when those involved at NPCC wanted to have open up to the community for the ability to have a discussion about important topics related to women. “We started brainstorming and we looked at what's essential and relevant to what's happening in our society right now,” Myers said. “We looked at the struggles and difficulties people are dealing with, particularly women. And our brainstorming produced the idea for this forum.” The goal of EndeavHER is to start and continue important conversations about women but also to empower them and allow them to connect over similar experiences. “We want to highlight things that are happening,” said Myers. “Some things are swept under the carpet, or nobody wants to take about certain things that are happening, and this gives us an opportunity to come together to refresh, connect, and share ideas while talking about your own story. We also want to focus on the piece of showing those who need help that there are resources in the community available to them.” For more information about NPCC's EndeavHER forum, contact SphereNPCC@outlook.com or call Nerrissa Myers (647-972-7035) or Beverley Blair (647-924-7181). --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2022-03-17 10:07:30 Post date GMT: 2022-03-17 14:07:30 Post modified date: 2022-03-24 10:36:34 Post modified date GMT: 2022-03-24 14:36:34 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
