Caledon country singer releases debut single ‘Here For The Long Run’Written By ALYSSA PARKHILL Local resident Jessica Sole is bringing a little bit of Nashville to Caledon. Last Friday (April 10) her newly released single ‘Here for The Long Run' was released on a variety of online platforms. Jessica Sole has always had a passion for music. With several family members also boasting musical backgrounds, she's always been surrounded by music. Sole was born and raised in Caledon and has been performing around the community since the third grade. When she turned 13, she picked up a guitar and began teaching herself how to play. Only one year later, she began writing songs. “I would say my music career started just a few years ago,” explained the 23-year-old singer. “I started taking my song writing more seriously and started my band ‘Jessica Sole and The Badlands'.” Jessica Sole and The Badlands have been working on this newly released tune for the past two years, perfecting it and making it into exactly what they wanted it to be. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been performing live shows at restaurants, local bars and festivals ‘Here For The Long Run' is only one of the singles that will make up Sole's debut EP, which she plans to be released in June. The country pop song reflects and shines on an important message of self-love. “It's all about the journey to self-discovery. To me, it's about learning how to take care of yourself and being able to put yourself first,” she said. Like any country artist, one of Sole's goals is to go to Nashville, long considered to be the home of country music and where all her inspirations came from. But with the world currently in chaos, she would give anything just to get back to performing. Another goal she looks forward to in the future is putting out a full-length album. Sole describes her music as bright, fresh and honest, with a twang of Nashville and the heart for country music. According to a recent Jessica, her newly released single is “relatable, encouraging and advocates for female empowerment. The lyrics are about staying strong and pushing through hard times, to finally see the light of self-discovery.” “I have several musical influences, all great women in country music. Kacey Musgraves is one of my main influences, along with the Dixie Chicks. Miranda Lambert and Maren Morris are also big influences of mine. These women all inspire me as an artist as well as a songwriter. Another one of my early influences is Taylor Swift. She inspired me to become a musician and songwriter.” Sole is currently attending Humber College, in her last year of the Bachelor of Music program. A Humber College professor has remarked on the single stating “Jessica's Sole's musical honesty, charming personality and focused dedication really shines through on Here For The Long Run. I hope you all enjoy her debut offering as much as I do!” To check out her debut single ‘Here For The Long Run' look up Jessica Sole on all streaming platforms. |
