Caledon Central Public School principal Lesley Kennedy explained that five classes from the school participated in painting three trash cans. While painting, the students were taught to honour the land they live on and recognize how trash cans are very important for keeping our community clean and preserving our environment. “Madame Arcuri, Ms. Duffenais, Mrs. Montgomery, Ms. Normore and Ms. Staiton's classes spent a couple of weeks planning and then painting the trash cans,” said Kennedy. “Caledon Central is grateful for the paint donations from Orangeville's Home Hardware and Orangeville's Benjamin Moore.” Town of Caledon Council will pick a winner for the painting contest, which is taking place at schools across Caledon, and the painted cans will then be placed in parks across the Town of Caledon for the community to view — and use. Kennedy said she greatly values her school's connections with the Town of Caledon and local businesses. “Teaching students to honour the land that we live on and the importance of taking care of it is critical to creating good little citizens now who will be great big citizens later,” said Kennedy. “One of the Peel District School Board's (PDSB) new goals for the next four years is community engagement and finding ways to engage caregivers and community partners in supporting student success.” On May 17, Town of Caledon Public Works staff, Caledon's PDSB trustee Stan Cameron, Ward 1 Councillor Lynn Kiernan, Ward 2 Councillor Dave Sheen, and Regional Councillor Christina Early all attended Caledon Central Public School to congratulate students and see their creations.  “The visitors were able to collaboratively celebrate the amazing painting of the students and their contributions to making our Town and community better,” said Kennedy. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2024-05-23 11:37:05 Post date GMT: 2024-05-23 15:37:05 Post modified date: 2024-05-23 11:37:07 Post modified date GMT: 2024-05-23 15:37:07 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
