After going down 5-1 in the first period, the Bandits rallied to close the gap in the second and out-scored Wilmot in the third period. While they didn't come out on top, it at least showed the squad has the ability to take it up a notch when they are behind the eight-ball. “If we would have played a better first period we would have won that game,” said Bandit head coach Mike Gillan. “If that doesn't tell you, you have to play a full three periods, nothing else will. In the third, our offense started doing what we were telling them to do — they started to play.” Bandit goals came from Derek Czech, in the first, Cam McCanna, Jonathon Ferguson and Chris Sehl in the second period, and Austin Heughan and McCanna in the final frame. Bandit Austin Heughan admitted the team's performance in the first was lacking some cohesive play. “When you start working together as a team, the faster we start playing together, for one reason — to win, the faster we'll finish the season in first,” he said. Heughan said that in the first period there was “a lack of chemistry, everyone was playing for themselves.” Moving into the latter part of the game, Heughan said the team buckled down and took their coaches' advice on what to do. “We were giving the ball away a lot in the first period,” he said. “Once we took into perspective what the coaches were saying we started following through and that's when the game changed around. When the coaches are speaking to us — if we're not listening, we're not winning.” The Bandits travelled to Hamilton last Thusday to take on the Bengals and again had a tough first period, trailing 4-1 when the buzzer sounded to end the frame. They responded in the second period to score eight goals, but a strong Hamilton finish gave the Caledon squad their second loss of the week when the game ended at 13-11 for the home town squad. The Bandits will be back at their home arena in Bolton this coming Tuesday (June 3) to host Mimico. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start. The Caledon Junior C Bandits took on the Wilmot wild at the Bolton arena last Tuesday. The Bandits rallied from a four-goal deficit in the first period, but couldn't close the gap and had to settle for an 8-6 loss to the visitors.Photo by Brian Lockhart --------------------------------------------------- Images: https://caledoncitizen.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/22-bandits-5.5-inch-267x300.jpg --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2014-06-04 16:58:09 Post date GMT: 2014-06-04 20:58:09 Post modified date: 2014-06-04 16:58:09 Post modified date GMT: 2014-06-04 20:58:09 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
