Caledon appoints new Chief Information Officer Gino Alborino![]() By KATHRYN FRASER Local Journalism Initiative Reporter The Town of Caledon has announced a new Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the municipality – Gino Alborino. Alborino's appointment was announced August 11. The Town looks forward to having Alborino join the team and help lead digital innovation and service excellence for all. Alborino's main role will be to lead the Town's Information Technology, Communication and Customer Experience divisions, to help advance digital transformations that enhance municipal services, will strengthen organizational capabilities and improve experience of both businesses and residents. Prior to this advancement, Alborino led enterprise digital transformation initiatives to help modernize resident services, strengthened data-informed decision-making and improved operational efficiency across Halton Region, while he served as the Director of Digital Services and Data management. In addition to his work in Halton Region, Alborino also holds nearly three decades of experience in municipal leadership in technology, digital transformation and customer service, as well as many years of education including an Executive MBA in Digital Transformation, Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology Management, and the Chartered Director Program through McMaster University. Alborino has also obtained a number of awards and has been recognized for his leadership skills through the IT World Canada Digital Disruptor Award, Canada Excellence in Municipal Systems Award. He has also been appointed as a judge for the Gartner's Eye on Innovation for Government Awards. Stepping into this new role, Alborino says he is excited and looking forward to helping the Town of Caledon in its growth. “It is an honour to join the Town of Caledon at such an exciting point in its growth,” says Albornino. “I look forward to working alongside Council, staff, residents and community partners to deliver innovative, secure and accessible digital services that make it easier for people to interact with their local government while supporting the Town's long-term vision.” Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Legal Officer Steven Dickson also hailed the addition of Alborino to the Town of Caledon municipal team as Chief Information Officer. “As the Town continues to grow and evolve in an increasingly digital world, strong leadership in technology, communications and customer service is essential,” says Dickson. “Gino brings an exceptional combination of strategic vision, innovation and operational excellence. His extensive experience leading digital transformation and modernizing public services will help the Town to better serve our growing community while enhancing the services residents rely on every day. We are excited to welcome him to our leadership team.” Alborino's first day in office was August 17 and this is just the beginning of his journey with the Town of Caledon. |
