Bolton residents win in ESL creativity contest

The opportunity to learn English has had a positive impact on the lives of two Bolton residents.
Edna Pisciotti and Madlin Eisho, students in the ESL program at Caledon Community Services (CCS), were selected as winners in the Learner Division of a province-wide creativity contest to celebrate ESL (English as a Second Language) education and learning.
Pisciotti was chosen as grand prize winner for her entry in the video category of the media activity option. Her submission, entitled Good things come to those who wait!, is a cleverly created audio and visual story about coming to Canada.
Eisho was selected as a runner up for her entry in the photo collage category of the media activity option. This submission is a large 3D photo collage called Token of my appreciation. It's her way of expressing gratitude for her learning experience and affection for the English language.
The contest, organized by TESL Ontario (Teachers of English as a Second Language), is a feature of ESL Week, an annual celebration of ESL education and learning throughout Ontario, held this year from Oct. 20 to 26.
Pisciotti and Eisho were selected from a total of 49 submissions of ESL instructors and learners throughout Ontario and were to be honoured along with four other contest winners at a Welcome Reception of TESL Ontario's 41st annual conference in Toronto last week.
TESL Ontario, established in 1972, is a non-profit organization serving the needs of teachers of English as a Second Language. It represents more than 4,600 language training professionals working in immigrant-serving agencies, school boards, publicly funded sites across Ontario, colleges/universities, elementary/secondary and private language training schools.
