BIA Chair Jimmy Pountney said the idea is to build on the success of the last couple of years of the Midnight Madness street festival, held every August. The local business operators wanted “a nice Saturday sort of all-day, beginning-of-summer festival.” “It's a good time of year,” he added, “since no one's off to the cottage yet.” Queen Street North, between King and Mill Streets, will be closed from 1 to 10 p.m., with the festival running from 2:30 to 8. Pountney said there will be two stages set up; one near the intersection of Queen and Mill and the other in the TD Canada Trust parking lot. There will be 11 local acts from across the Caledon area, including the Bob Parkins Trio, Queen City Lights, Stephanie Oakley, King City Blues Review, Organized Chaos, Larry and the Lawbreakers, Butter, Lewis Moorman Band, Humberview Brass Band, Frank Adriano Trio, and Bardos — Chicago. As well, he said there will be lots of vendors set up, selling food and other items, bounce castles and other activities for kids, art exhibits and other displays. And there will be no charge to get in. “Fingers crossed, we'll have good weather,” Pountney said.
