The group of local women who get together to support local charities, organizations and those who contribute to their community in Caledon. The one-hour meeting equals $100 donation from 100 Women Who Care Caledon participants/ The meeting, which took place virtually on Sept. 24, announced Bethell Hospice as their recipient to receive the generous donation. Bethell Hospice received the majority of the votes from the group of women. They were chosen because “Bethell provides excellent, person-centered, palliative care through partnerships with our community.” The women donated a total of $5,400 which will help fund food, medication, community counselling and grief support programs at Bethell Hospice. “We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected,” said Julie Hymers, Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for Bethell Hospice Foundation. “With the impacts of COVID-19, fundraising has been particularly challenging in 2020, and we are so grateful to 100 Women Who Care Caledon for their belief in the importance of Bethell Hospice in our community.” The group of women have in total raised around $90,000 for communities in Caledon including Meaghan Zaremba Music Room, Caledon Community Services, Caledon Meals on Wheels, Canadian Mental Health Association, Special Olympics Caledon and many others. Since 2017, 100 Women of Caledon have come together in support and to raise money for those in the Caledon community and look forward to continuing either virtually or in-person. “We are always happy to welcome new members. The more members we have, the bigger the impact we can have on local charities. Many charities have had to alter how they fundraise, and many are not able to raise the money they need to keep local programs running,” said Chair, Karen McDonald back in August. “A donation from 100 Women Who Care Caledon can make all the difference for a charity that is struggling to find ways to raise money.” For more information, please visit 100womenwhocarecaledon.com. |
