Belooussov taking another run at area council seat in BoltonBy Bill Rea Andrei Belooussov has announced he will be making a second run for the area seat in Caledon's Ward 5 in this fall's municipal election. The owner of a Bolton-based engineering company said he's not satisfied with the job the current council is doing. “I think I could do it better,” he remarked. He said there's not been much feedback, adding he doesn't think raising taxes is a good idea. He also wondered if the simple problems can't be solved, how can the complicated ones be dealt with. He also observed that people seem to keep electing the same people over and over. “I think we should at least try to elect new ones,” he said. Belooussov said he has administrative experience having established his first company in the former Soviet Union in 1989, after perestroika. With about 200 employees, he learned how to manage people and make things work. Belooussov's election bid four years ago was not very successful, but he said he got a late start in that campaign. “I'm going to door-to-door this time,” he remarked. “I have at least four months ahead.” |
