ASK’s fifth annual writing contest under way

Timeless Tales V – The Letters may prove to be the most exciting in the historically-themed short story series launched four years ago.

Arts Society King (ASK) was eager to discover literary talent in York Region and has since expanded to include Simcoe, Peel and Dufferin. ASK partnered with the King Heritage & Cultural Centre to use artifacts and photos from the archives.

History also means taking sneak peeks at diaries and letters. Little lives have titillated the nosy since the dawn of writing. So, this year, excerpts from five letters or from personal journals were offered as launching pads for the soaring imaginations of writers of all ages.

The anthologies published in previous years have proven the authors' merit in all the stories, bar none. In the fall, the public will be treated to readings and book signings by writers become authors at Tale Tellers' Night.
