A 21-year old man from Brampton has been charged in relation to a Caledon OPP investigation into a case of counterfeiting last month.
Police started the investigation Feb. 17 regarding the circulation of U.S. counterfeit money. The initial investigation revealed that a male entered a fast-food restaurant in Bolton, ordered a food item and paid with a $20 U.S. bill. Minutes later, a second male entered the restaurant and placed an order also paying with American currency. The owner discovered that the money used in both transactions was counterfeit and contacted police.
One man has been arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit money, uttering counterfeit money and fraud under $5,000.
