Annual Christmas event coming to downtown BoltonWritten By ALYSSA PARKHILL The annual Christmas in the Village, hosted by the Stage Academy Theatre Association in partnership with the Bolton Community Crew, is coming to downtown Bolton next Friday, Dec. 6. Though the event is usually held at the gazebo on the corner of Queen and Sterne St., the Christmas in the Village is being relocated to the Pavilion due to the growth in attendance over the years, as well to create a safer space with easier access to parking. “As usual, we're going to have an outdoor market place where people can do some Christmas shopping from local businesses, where a lot of the stuff will be made by local artisans,” says Sarah Leslie, Chair of the Bolton Community Crew. “There's going to be a visit from the town crier, and Santa's coming, so people will be welcome to take their pictures with Santa.” St. Michaels Catholic School senior band will be performing throughout the event. “They did an excellent job last year, so we're really looking forward to having them join us again this year,” remarks Leslie. The event will feature a new addition this year, which Leslie hopes will truly bring a Christmas feel to the historical charm of downtown Bolton. “A horse and carriage ride throughout the downtown core! We're going to be asking people for a five-dollar donation to go for a ride on the horse's wagon. It's a 16 passenger, so quite a few people can go at once, and it'll take everybody on a loop around downtown Bolton and back,” states Leslie. The Christmas in the Village will also be lighting up downtown Bolton by hosting their tree lighting ceremony. Hot chocolate, food, live music, holiday market, horse and carriage rides and even Santa. What more could you want to kick off the holiday season?
