Annual Belfountain Salamander Festival goes Saturday

There's going to be a lot of fun and interesting stuff going on this Saturday (Sept. 28) in Belfountain.
The hamlet will be hosting the 17th annual Belfountain Salamander Festival.
The festival, co-sponsored by Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) and Belfountain Community Organization in partnership with the Belfountain Village Church, Belfountain Public School and Town of Caledon, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Many of the activities will be taking place at Belfountain Conservation Area, including a display of birds of prey from Mountsberg Raptor Centre; real, live salamanders; fly-tying activities with the Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club; a Kids Eco Zone Activity Centre; electrofishing demonstrations; and other river critters.
Elsewhere in Belfountain, there will be a farmers' and artisans' market; silent auction and live entertainment; and an exciting new Local Food Court, featuring barbecued beef, bison and lamb, delectables from local restaurateurs, squash soup, baked potatoes, a variety of baked goods, warm apple cider and hot organic coffee, and trash-free and earth-wise practices.
Admission into the Conservation Area is free for walk-ins with a coupon from CVC's booth in the hamlet, but parking fees will apply at the facility.
