In his first opportunity to race in Europe, Yorke struggled, but gained a lot of important experience. Yorke recently was the first North American across the line in the Hamburg International Triathlon and beat more than a dozen London Olympians in the process. “The race was fast, furious and full on from the first swim stroke, through the technical bike loop and on the run course,” Yorke remarked. The important international points that Yorke picked up have ensured that he will be racing in London in September on the World Championships course, where last year's Olympics occurred. “I was in London as the Olympic alternate to Simon Whitfield last summer, so having a chance to race on the epic course in September will be very special,” he said. The day after the Hamburg individual triathlon, Yorke raced a second time, anchoring Team Canada to a ninth-place finish in the World Team Championships. “There is nothing like a relay team and being the anchor man for Team Canada is a very special thing.” said Yorke. Yorke will stay in Spain to do a big training block, and he will be racing next in Stockholm in August. Yorke is a proud member of the C3 Canadian Cross Training Club and got his start in the local Kinetico Kids of Steel Triathlon.
