It was a great year for the ACTS Elites Volleyball Club, ending with a gold medal at the Ontario Provincial Championships.
More than 68 athletes from 12 to 18 years of age competed on six teams over the season from November to May.
Bringing home bronze and silver medals, the teams successfully competed across the province in Ontario Volleyball Association regular season tournaments. Ending on a high note, the U17 Girls struck gold the weekend of April 26 to 28 in Waterloo at RIM Park, competing in the Provincial Championships, Division 2, Tier 1. Going 5-1 through the first two days, the girls got off to a great start and solidified themselves as medal contenders. The final day of competition, they continued their domination with four consecutive wins as they defeated the Guelph Grizzlies, Markham Stingers, Hamilton Smash and finally the Waterloo Tigers to win gold
Over the season, the teams hosted scrimmages with other clubs, took part in Humber College and University of Toronto varsity volleyball competitions, and even stuck more than their toes in at the local Polar Swim in Grand Valley
When tryouts start in September, competition is likely to be fierce for spots on the teams.
