11th annual Tour de Terra Cotta was another success
The weather was a little ominous in the morning, but the rain held off and a full day of bike racing was had Monday at the 11th annual Tour de Terra. The hamlet was packed with cycling enthusiasts, as well as those to cheer them on. These competitors had just completed the first of 12 laps in the 104-kilometre Elite Road Race.
The Elite Road Race was the high point of the day, with competitors turning in 12 laps for 104 kilometres. Among the women, Suzie Brown on Markham was tops, followed by Ashley Barson of Bolton in second and Jennifer Stephenson of Ottawa in third. Photos by Bill Rea
The day saw cycling events to accommodate several age groups and skill levels. The Squirts (aged eight to 10) were taking off for their 8.68-kilometre event.
The top men in the Elite Road Race were Benjamin Perry of St. Catharines, followed by Larby Benhabib of Kitchener and Aaron Fillion of Ottawa.
