Subway Athletes of the Week — April 24, 2014

Mayfield Secondary School Jessica Miller This 16-year-old is contributing her skills as an outside centre for the junior girls’ rugby team, which is in practice after the recent tour of Scotland. She also played on the junior girls’ volleyball team, and is a swimmer, specializing in the 50-metre backstroke. The Grade 10 student lives in Strawberry Fields with her parents Lisa Lewis-Miller and Arlind Miller.

Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School Greg Johnstone This Grade 12 student was a defenceman on the school’s varsity hockey team that won the title at ROPSSAA and finished fourth at OFSSAA. Away from school, he used to play hockey in the Caledon Hawks organization, but didn’t play this year. The 18-year-old lives in Caledon with his parents Sandy and John Johnstone.

This Grade 12 student was a defenceman on the school’s varsity hockey team that won the title at ROPSSAA and finished fourth at OFSSAA. St. Michael Catholic Secondary School Alexandra Rebelo This 17-year-old recently made her mark at school playing doubles badminton, with the squad just missing qualifying for ROPSSAA. She also enjoys hip-hop in the school’s dance club. In the community, she’s plays defence in the Bolton Wanderers’ house league system. The Grade 12 student lives in Bolton with her parents Rita and Macky Rebelo.

Humberview Secondary School Nathan Ellis This Grade 10 student is a fly half on the junior boys’ rugby team, and he contributed a try in the first tournament in Vaughan. “There’s room for improvement, which is good,” he said. In the community, he plays defence at the rep AA level in Caledon Minor Hockey, and plays rugby for the Aurora Barbarians. The 15-year-old lives in Caledon with his parents Maria and Duncan Ellis.
