Fire and Ice Winter Festival coming to Alton

Bring the whole family to an arts-rich weekend with true Canadian flavour Jan. 25 and 26.
Alton Mill will be hosting its annual Fire and Ice Winter Festival.
Enjoy skating on the Millpond, igloo building, ice sculptures, raku and blacksmith demonstrations, indoor art activities and workshops, stories, music and more.
Discover the ancient art of Encaustic (painting with beeswax and oil paint). Workshops wil be at 1 and 3 p.m. both days for $10 per person.
Saturday only, watch the action at the Alton Millpond Hockey Classic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by public skating and shinny. After sundown, watch artist Paul Morin light up the night with a brand new fire sculpture. Bring your cameras and enter the Capture the Burn photo contest.
Take in the Hockey Night in Alton – Hot Stove Lounge Pub Night Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m. Watch the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast. There will be casual food and cash bar. Tickets are $15 and available at Shaw’s Creek Café at the Mill.
Sunday will include public skating from noon to 5 p.m.
