Alleged UFO sightings a semi-regular occurrence in local area

Partially isolated during the pandemic seems like we're all alone.

But we're not, according to ongoing UFO reports from residents across the country.

Even in Caledon, those lights in the sky do not go unnoticed.

According to “latest-ufo-sightings.net,” the most recent report came from nearby Aurora.

On April 26, 2020 an Aurora resident reported the sighting occurred after 8:45 p.m. and was captured on video and still photos for more than 40 minutes.

The witness said he tried to come up with logical explanations such as star, helicopter, plane, planets (Venus was visible that week), international space station, satellites, etc.

But this object remained stationery and was recorded on several devices.

When he downloaded the photos to his computer he noticed that the “glowing dot actually consist of a glowing ring around a circular glowing light.”

The year 2018 marked the 30th anniversary of collecting and analyzing Canadian UFO report data by UfologyResearch.

The 2018 Canadian UFO Survey revealed a total of 937 sightings in Canada, the lowest on record since 2004.

Quebec led all Canadian provinces with 41 per cent of all Canadian UFO reports, followed by Ontario (24 per cent) and BC (13 per cent).

In 2018, roughly five per cent of all UFO reports were classified as unexplained. The typical UFO sighting lasted approximately 16 minutes in 2018. The study found that about 40 per cent of all UFO sightings were of simple lights in the sky. Witnesses also reported point sources of light, spheres and boomerangs.

Many witnesses were pilots, police officers and other individuals with reasonably good observing capabilities and good judgement.

Although the largest percentage of reported UFOs is simply lights in the night sky, a small number are objects with definite shapes observed within the witnesses' frame of reference.

On March 18, an orange, triangle-shaped object was seen at 10:15 p.m. in Caledon East. The object was reported travelling low and very fast.

On May 20 in Caledon, three orange globes were observed, arranged in a triangular fashion.

King Township attracted some attention on June 1, 2018 when a Schomberg resident reported seeing an orange “orb” which rapidly fell from the sky and vanished, at roughly 10:15 p.m.

The number of UFO reports per year has varied, although there has been a general trend towards a gradual increase in yearly UFO report numbers over the past 30 years, with spikes in some years such as 1993, 2008 and 2012, when there were almost 2,000 reports in one year.

Authors of the report note that a total of 937 UFO reports in one country in a single year “is still quite remarkable.”

For this study, the working definition of a UFO is: “an object seen in the sky which its observer cannot identify.”

Polls have shown that about 10 per cent of the Canadian population believe they have seen UFOs. This means that roughly 3.7 million Canadians have seen UFOs. However, studies have also shown that only about 10 per cent of all witnesses of UFOs report their experiences.

The UFO Survey is produced by Ufology Research, based in Manitoba, with the cooperation of investigators and researchers across the country.

Since the annual Canadian UFO Survey was initiated in 1989, 18,038 Canadian UFO reports have been catalogued during the past 28 years.

This is much more than the files of the United States Air Force's infamous Project Blue Book, which investigated and recorded 12,618 UFO reports from around the world between 1947 and 1969.

Authors of the report indicate that this data clearly contradicts comments by those who would assert that UFOs are a “passing fad” or that UFO sightings are decreasing in number.
