Bolton Tim Horton’s challenged the community to help raise $7,500 to support Meals on Wheels this past holiday season. Now, the local franchise has announced the Match Our Meals donation program was a major success.

The community participated in two forms of donating. Caledon Meals on Wheels had an ongoing donation button on their website for members of the community to click, and donate in the comfort of their own home.

Through their partnership with the Bolton Tim Horton’s, owned by the Stafford Group, the community worked to donate a total of $7,500 to Caledon Meals on Wheels.

Whatever members of the community donated, the Stafford Group matched it up to a limit of $7,500. But, because of the generosity and dedication from the community, their matched donation went up from $7,500 to $10,000.

“We started the Match Our Meal donation because we realize there are many seniors with low incomes in our community who need the food and need the additional subsidy that Caledon Meals on Wheels provides so they can have nourishing meals,” said Brad Stafford, owner of the Bolton Tim Horton’s.

Between the community support and the Match Our Meals program, Caledon Meals on Wheels and the Bolton Tim Hortons raised $37,000.

The Caledon Meals on Wheels was established in 1984 and supports members of the community by providing meals, services and social programs. The non-profit and volunteer-driven agency works to keep residents healthy, well-fed, nourished and happy.

“As an agency, we want to ensure everyone has access to a nutritious meal each day and to our programs and services that support healthy aging,” says Executive Director Christine Sevigny. “We are grateful to The Stafford Group at the Bolton Tim Hortons who launched Match our Meals with a $7,500 challenge, and this yet they surprised us by once again increasing their match level.”

Caledon Meals on Wheels provides several service, programs and support for Caledon seniors including matching volunteers and seniors together for friendly visits, social and wellness groups, and administers Project Lifesaver, which is a program designed to assist with seniors or those living with cognitive disabilities, who may be at risk of wandering.
