Second annual Dunk Disposal Donation Drive runs this weekend

Cameron Dunkerley was just looking for extra cash to put gas into his truck.

When he was in Grade 12 he bought his first truck. Driving to and from school every day was causing a bit of havoc on the wallet. So, he thought of a way to use his truck in his favour, and find a way for it make money for him.

Two years ago, Dunkerley was posting ads on Kijiji for anyone looking for a delivery service.

“I was getting a bunch of work, and I was just paying for my gas by doing jobs anytime I was in Brampton, or when I’d go to town in Orangeville, or anytime I was just kind of around Caledon. It just kind of got bigger and bigger,” says Dunkerley.

Within those two years, Dunkerley has evolved his company, Dunk Delivery, Disposal and Demo from just a delivery service, to demolitions and removals.

“I started it out as a delivery company and ever since then it’s kind of evolved as times changed, and the market was kind of telling me where to go and where I was getting more work. Now I’m more of a removal and demolition company, it’s changed from more delivery to removal and demolition,” explains Dunkerley.

Now, Dunk Disposal is holding its second annual donation drive. They’ve partnered with the Salvation Army, and are asking members of the community in Caledon and surrounding areas to reach out if they would like to donate.

While last year’s inaugural event was considered to be a huge success, Cameron is hoping to do even better this year, and is calling on local residents to lend a helping hand and donate toys and food to benefit some of the community’s most vulnerable residents over the Christmas period.

Cameron and his team have developed a route for those who would like to donate and personally visit residents’ homes to pick them up.

On Sunday Dec 15, Cameron will be driving around Brampton, Caledon and Orangeville picking up donations of unwrapped toys and non-perishable foods.
