Palgrave school receives Ministry funding to boost childcare in town

Staff from Palgrave Public School were delighted to learn last week that an investment from the provincial government will allow the facility to increase its space and expand its programming.

This past Friday, Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones was on hand at the local school to announce the approval of a new addition that will create 49 new child care spaces in Palgrave.

“This funding will be used for the creation of three new child care rooms that will provide additional day care spaces that our community needs. The investment will make a difference for everyone – students, staff and families in Palgrave,” MPP Jones said. “Our government is pleased to support the building of new child care rooms at Palgrave Public School. With this announcement, our government is continuing to invest in the future of students and families and we are setting the stage for student success.”

The central piece of the expansion will be the creation of three new child care rooms, which will help facilitate the 49 additional child care spaced.

“This is wonderful news for the Peel District School Board families in the Palgrave Public School community. We appreciate today’s announcement by MPP Jones. This $1 million is needed to build a total of 49 child care spaces in Palgrave Public School, which will accommodate ten spaces for infants, 15 spaces for toddlers and 24 spaces for pre-school children,” said Peel District School Board Chair and Caledon Trustee Stan Cameron.

In a release to media, Education Minister Stephen Lecce noted he was pleased to be able to follow through with investments in Palgrave.

“From modernizing our curriculum, to revitalizing our classrooms and facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Our financing of additional child care rooms at Palgrave Public School further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in capital projects and our overall commitment to supporting public education in Ontario.”
