Giving challenged individuals the gift of music is what the Meaghan Zaremba Music Room is all about. The Meaghan Zaremba Music Room, run out of Bolton's Tisho's Music Academy, provides more than 900 music sessions annually to local individuals affected by physical or mental challenges. These sessions allow these individuals to freely express themselves through music, in a safe, fun, group setting, that helps them overcome their struggles and challenges, and with a goal towards seeing the therapeutic benefits of music enrich their lives. Every year, operators of the music room reach out to community-minded businesses, groups and organizations to seek financial help to provide continuing support, and help meet the demand for this beneficial service. Private funding is an integral part of their sustainability, as government funding is extremely limited. This year, Meaghan Zaremba Music Room is presenting a special local fundraising event, organized by resident Valerie Arnold-Judge, with the support of many community-minded volunteers in order to support the vision. A Murder Mystery Dinner, with proceeds going to the Music Room, is being held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Glen Eagle Golf Club north of Bolton. “We are asking for support to help us keep this valuable program growing and appreciate your consideration of sponsorship or attendance for this event,” Judge said. “It is a great program and to just see these people smile and have fun with musical instruments or just a small drum warms my heart,” she added. Meaghan Zaremba is a young woman now, but as a child received a brain injury through an accident, and was told that she would never walk or talk again. “She is an inspiration today to all challenged people,” Arnold-Judge said. “Just knowing that there is hope for those with challenges like Meaghan is a wonderful thing.” Mary Balinov of Tisho's Music runs the classes for these individuals and former trustee Arnold-Judge has always been a strong support of our youth. Event tickets are $75 for each dinner participant, and a table of 10 is $750.
