Caramel Café opens it’s doors in Bolton

Written By KIRA WRONSKA DORWARD

Ali Abdolrazzak and his wife have put their heart, soul, and an incredible amount of research into Bolton's newest and nicest gourmand sweets establishment, Caramel Café, which opened on Nov. 30. Located on Parr Boulevard, the impressive ambiance and décor are reminiscent of a high-end Montreal establishment, as indeed Ali's wife is a Montreal native, and learned her trade there from a young age.

Ali, who is originally from Richmond Hill himself, decided to open his business in Bolton “because it's a great city and it's growing. I've always loved Bolton, I've been coming since I was young. I liked the people and the car culture. I also noticed it needed a specialized desserts café, as my wife is from Montreal. We always liked to taste fine things and are perfectionists. We have chefs in both our families- so it's in our blood. It's her and my passion.”

It is she that specializes in all the home-made desserts, freshly prepared batters, and hand-made English cream which the café only makes in small amounts every few days to ensure absolute freshness. Their specialties include crepes and waffles, chocolate parfait, and desert goodies, all made with top quality ingredients such as high-grade Belgian chocolate and specially selected and sourced ice cream, which had Abdolrazzak tasting from 100 different varieties until he finally settled on the perfect one. Caramel Café also serves Italian Forza coffee in a multitude of forms, using an all-manual machine style which completes the eclectic coffee taste. “Our lattes and cappuccinos are unmatched,” said Abdolrazzak. “Starbucks will have a hard time competing with this quality.” In addition to Forza coffee, the café also serves Arabic tea and Turkish coffee, as well as a delicious, richly inspired blend of tea called Kashmiri Chai, which is both light and satisfying with the unbelievable deserts.

At the official ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Allan Thompson and his wife Anne, we are treated to delicious waffles covered with melted chocolate and fudge brownie, crepes delicately prepared with banana, nuts, and caramel swirls, and vanilla ice cream that boarders on gelato. The mayor eats his ice cream mixed with expresso, and all three lucky recipients of Abdolrazzak's treats are “bowled over” with the beautiful presentation.

When asked his opinion on the delights just served, Mayor Thompson responded with, “I think it's a coffee shop that serves more drinks than anyone can ask for. The price point is really good, and this just adds more culture and taste for Caledon to enjoy…Let me tell you, when you walk through the door…the sights and smells, you can tell you're about to eat something good.”

Located so close to Landmark Cinemas, Caramel Café is the perfect pre or post-date venue, or simply a place to enjoy some gourmet desserts with friends after a film.

“We wish everyone happy holidays and best of luck in the New Year, and we hope to see them here in the next year. Our goal,” said Abdolrazzak, “is customer service and satisfaction, and to give a ‘wow' factor to everyone who comes in here as everything is inspired by quality. We're just trying to bring a high end quality to the people here because they deserve it.”
