Fair Ambassador encourages volunteerism

June 28, 2013   ·   0 Comments

We are fortunate to live in the Caledon community, and it is this interaction with those around us that makes us strive to do our best, be our best.
Without a strong community, we gain none of this. That is why it is important for the younger generation to get out and volunteer. Through volunteerism, we network with those who live locally and form bonds as neighbors and friends.
For those out there still in high school, volunteering might seem an obligation. It has the potential to be so much more. Volunteering benefits you in many ways. You gain skills that will help you in the workplace, perhaps even find that first full-time job. You will meet new people, make new friends and, most of all, you will experience personal self-satisfaction at accomplishing something truly great.
This is why I chose to put myself forward for the position of Senior Ambassador for the Caledon Agricultural Society. I wanted to help my community and make a difference, as well as experience growth on a personal level.
I would like to encourage everyone, younger and older, to find that spark of civic responsibility and find your own way while bringing benefit to your community.
Come on out to the Canada Day Strawberry Festival, held at the Caledon Fairgrounds July 1 and we can chat about volunteerism and what it can mean to you.
Patrick Forster,
Senior Ambassador,
Caledon Agricultural Society
