The Rotary Club of Palgrave will host their annual gala fundraiser for money that will go back into the community programs and abroad.

The annual event this year will take place on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Royal Ambassador Events Centre. There will be drinks, dancing, a live band, a live and silent auction, and a wine raffle.

“The gala is one of our largest fundraisers for the rotary club,” said club president Jim Firth. “It’s been about 15 years now we’ve had our fall gala.” Last year’s gala raised $35,000 with the Canada 150 theme, and the club is looking to match it again.

Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.

Some of the organizations the club supports are Bethell Hospice, Caledon Parent-Child Centre, Family Transition Place, Caledon Meals on Wheels, and Palgrave Scouts and Guides. Some of the community events/projects they sponsor are the Terry Fox Run, Palgrave Pond, Caledon Canada Day, Accessibility Upgrade Project, and the International Youth Exchange Program.

“100 per cent of the proceeds go into the Giving Program,” explained Firth, which is split between youth, community, and international program projects.

He added that they usually give anywhere from $75,000 to $95,000 a year to those three groups, and in terms of locally, they also give in Tottenham and Orangeville.

Tickets for this formal attire event are $75 per person. Cocktail hour starts at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, call Jeff Ercul at 416-803-2249 or Jim Firth at 416-884-4653.
