Crime Stoppers a growing presence in Caledon

On Monday, October 1 at 9:00 am, Caledon OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Ryan Carothers joined Mayor Allan Thompson and Lenore Terry, Assistant Co-Ordinator for Peel Crime Stoppers to mark the installation of 11 new Crime Stoppers signs to go up in Caledon. Crime Stoppers is a partnership of the public, police and media which provides the community with a proactive program to anonymously assist in solving crime and contribute to an improved quality of life.

What they do: Peel Crime Stoppers processes tips from Brampton, Caledon, Mississauga and Pearson International Airport. They use several agencies for investigations such as Peel Regional Police, the Caledon Detachment of the OPP, Canadian Border Services, the Ministry of Finance and the Ontario SPCA.

What kind of tips can you report? Crime Stoppers takes tips about crimes that have already occurred or are about to occur. They also accept information about wanted fugitives, stolen property, drugs and many other types of criminal activity. If you aren't certain whether the information you have is worth reporting, call anyways. You never know if your tip can help solve a crime!

Have a tip? Call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.peelcrimestoppers.ca. Remember, you remain anonymous, you never have to testify, and you may be eligible for a cash reward. From 2010-2018, Peel Crime Stoppers have processed 961 tips for the Town of Caledon.

As a result of the information provided, police have recovered $1,806,106.00 in property and seized $13,806,257.00 in drugs.
