Week three of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League season played out much the same as the previous two for the Caledon Bandits, who are still in search of their first win.

Tempers flared between the Bandits and the rival Six Nations at Mayfield Arena, though Caledon was able to take an early lead over the powerhouse Warriors when Jarrett Petrie struck from in close just over a minute into the game.

The sides exchanged chances throughout the first twenty minutes, Brandon Marion striking twice while Jordan McArthur added a single for Caledon, who went into the break down by a narrow 5 – 4 margin.

The nail in Caledon’s coffin came just over a minute into the second frame, when high-flying scorer Darcy Tainsh was sent to the locker room after claiming a decided victory in a brawl with a Six Nations player.

Marion’s night was over thanks to a fight just over two minutes later, before the Warriors capitalized three times in just over a minute to take an insurmountable lead.

Caledon’s Alex Trkulja was also handed a game misconduct for high-sticking before the end of the second period, leaving the Caledon bench shorthanded for the remainder of what would end up a 14 – 7 loss.

Petrie picked up his first multi-goal game of the season in completing a hat trick with under two minutes to go, adding an assist in the losing effort.

Friday’s road match with the high-scoring Fergus Thistles had much less first-period luster, with Caledon falling behind 3 – 0 just over two minutes after the opening draw.

Tainsh returned to the floor for a solid five-point effort, notching four goals and an assist, while Cole Goodwin picked up four helpers of his own.

The Bandits are the solo team still searching for their first win in the OJCLL’s West division, two points back of the Halton Hills Bulldogs, whose first win came at the expense of the Bandits in week two.

A busy weekend schedule ahead does not get any easier for Caledon, who visit the undefeated Warriors on Saturday before heading to Wilmot on Sunday to face the 5-1-0 Wild.

The Warriors and Wild sit in the one-two spots in the West division.
