Wild are sitting in pretty good shape after six evenings of round-robin play in the Sunday Night Hockey League. They have a substantial lead after the March 19 action, but the Caledon Hills Brewing Co. Brewers, Inside Out Family Chiropractic Predators, St. Louis Bar and Grill Wings, Ken's Lawnmower Repair Blades and Mr. Handyman Ice Hogs are all in a scramble to see who will get the other three semifinal berths. The Glen Eagle Golf Club Griffins and Ainsley Fire Protection Fire are trailing. March 19 Blades 5, Ice Hogs 2 The Ice Hogs fell short and got clipped by the Blades, and lost all but half a point. One point is awarded for winning a period in round-robins, two points for winning the game and if a period is tied, each team gets half a point. Blades twine ticklers were Dave Gardilcic from Scott Drouillard and Rick DiPassio (goalie), Daryll Simpson from Drouillard and Brett Appio, Simpson from Shawn Simpson and Mark Bauldry, Bogdan Rapan from Appio and Kevin Wigner, and Appio from D. Simpson and Wigner. Handyman hole fillers were Brad Sztorc from Marc de Abaitua, and Graham Bryson (unassisted). Brewers 4, Wings 2 The second game of the evening was close on the score sheet, but the Brewers were able to take four points from the Wings. Brewers lamplighters were Brandon Scott with the hat trick and Jody Spagnol with the single, helped by Jay Beech, Bob McHardy, Steve Nicoloff and Joe Doan. Wings' net nabbers were Sandro Mignosa from Daniel Hamlett, and Hamlett from Victor Ranieri and Derek Cleary. Wild 6, Griffins 0 Grant MacEwen stood tall and got the Wild all five points as the injury-plagued Griffins couldn't get one by him. Wild goal getters were Dan Shaw from Dale Deleonardis and Steve Whitten, Mitch Merante from Randy Isenberg and Deleonardis, Whitten from Merante and Shaun Heron, Gary Morris from Merante and Ryan Bailey, Bailey from Whitten and Jason Clark, and Clark from Merante and Steve Brown. Predators 6, Fire 3 The last game of the night saw the short-benched Fire fall prey to the Predators and only garner a point. Predator prowlers were John Hutchinson from Kevin Christie and Colin Fyffe, Darren Jones from Cam Coulter and Austin Brown, Coulter from Brown and Jones, Steve Hutchins from Mike Desario and Fyffe, Hutchins from Jones and Fab Iafano, and Coulter from Hutchinson. Fire's cage crashers were Mark Andreoli from Shane Ainsley and David DiMeo, Ainsley from Andreoli and Brad Wigner, and Wigner from Andreoli and Ainsley. March 11 Wings 2, Wild 2 The first game of the night set the tone for the next two, with an even tilt that gave the Wild three points and Wings two out of five. Wild warriors were Isenberg from Heron, and Heron from Isenberg. Wings whippers were Mignosa from Mike DeFrancesco, and Eric Webster from Mignosa and Hamlett. Predators 2, Ice Hogs 1 Even though the score was close, the Predators were able to take four of five points, leaving the Ice Hogs with just one. Predator prowlers were Kyle Bagg from Fyffe, and Fyffe from Christie. Handyman's lone hammer was dropped by Sztorc from Adam Minatel. Blades 2, Fire 1 As with the second game, the score was close, but the Blades were able to get 3.5 points from the Fire, scoring with less than a second left for the win. Blades bashers were Daryll Simpson from Rapan, and Appio (unassisted). Fire's lone marksman was Alex White from Brad Wigner and Gus Kourousis. Brewers 9, Griffins 1 The last game saw the Brewers smash the Griffins and get all five points. Brewers bin bulgers were Beech with the hat trick, Doan with a pair, and Nicoloff, Mike Swan, Kevin Bowen and Jody Spagnol all with singles. Assists went to Bowen, Dave Matheson, Beech, McHardy, Scott, Nicoloff, Mike Ferguson, Tony Meila (goalie), Spagnol and Doan.
