Information session for candidates for Chair

In the Oct. 22 municipal election, eligible Peel residents will have an opportunity to vote for the Regional Chair for the first time.
The names of the candidates for the position of the Chair will be on the ballot, and Peel electors will vote for their preferred candidate.
The Region of Peel and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs will be holding a candidate information session that will cover key information about becoming a candidate for the position of Chair.
It will be April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Regional Council Chambers on the fifth floor at 10 Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton.
The session is open to Peel residents who are interested in being a candidate for Chair. It will provide information on the Regional Chair’s role and duties; who can run for the position; roles and responsibilities of elected officials; the nomination process and key dates; general campaign rules; campaign and election finances; candidate and third party advertiser duties; compliance and enforcement; voters’ list and proxy voting; and scrutineers and recounts.
Registration is not required.
