Music of Spain and South America at chamber concert

Caledon Chamber Concerts will present the Azuline Duo in a concert of music from Spain and South America March 24.
The Azuline Duo comprises Emma Rush on guitar and Sara Traficante on flute.
Rush has established herself as one of Canada’s top classical guitarists, in demand as both a soloist and chamber musician. Her playing has commanded worldwide recognition and she performs regularly throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia, and is a frequent guest at international guitar festivals. In 2016-17, she was a Debut Atlantic touring artist and an artist in residence at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Rush is known for her innovative programming and powerful stage presence.
Traficante is a versatile flutist, performing throughout Canada and internationally as a chamber and orchestral musician. She is a founding member of the trio Vox Metropolis and has a passion for presenting unique concert experiences. She is in demand as a clinician and collaborator on projects from traditional classical to film scores and indie rock.
Between them, Rush and Traficante have been recognized by the Ontario Arts Council, Heritage Canada, the Ottawa Community Foundation, the Banff Centre for Performing Arts, the Hamilton Arts Awards, and the City of Hamilton Cultural Enrichment Fund. Rush is on the faculty with Mohawk College (Hamilton), Redeemer University College (Ancaster) and the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts. Traficante is on the faculty at Redeemer University College (Ancaster) and the Centre for String Playing (Hamilton).
The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. at St. James’ Anglican Church, Caledon East. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for students 16 and younger and may be purchased in advance at Forster’s Book Garden, Howard the Butcher and BookLore. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the performance.
