Standing get tighter in Nov. 20 senior action



It was a case of three games and three upsets Nov. 20 in the Caledon Senior Hockey League.

The Jiffy Lube Oilers tightened things up by edging first-place Heart Lake Insurance 4-3.

In the other games at Don Sheardown Memorial Arena, the Grit Bagmen bombed Fines Ford Lincoln 9-4 and Yale Industrial Trucks whipped Rutherford Global Logistics 8-0.

That left Heart Lake clinging to a one-point lead over second-place Yale, which has 11 points, with Rutherford right behind with 10.

Jiffy Lube 4, Heart Lake 3

Gary Hughes and team rep Peter Coghill led Jiffy Lube with two goals each.

Clark Chung set up two goals while single assists went to Rick Geiger, Frank Cirone, Pete McNamara and Mike Lo Dico.

Peter Kuchar was on the mark for Heart Lake with a goal and two assists. Tim Sinclair and Mike McNamara scored the other goals. Steve Tarasco had two helpers with Frank McKay and Howard Wight getting one each.

Grit 9, Fines Ford 4

Tony Curcio powered the Grit attack with six points on a goal and five assists.

Carlo Fantin also had a big night with a goal and three assists. Mike Gasparini and Mike Shore both scored twice and added an assist. Jim Sabaziotis had a goal and two assists while John Crossley had one of each. Robert Ianno scored the other goal. Joe Guaragna set up two goals while Randy Freitag had one assist.

Team rep Ted Callighen scored twice for Fines Ford. Bret Smith had a goal and an assist. Dom D'Orazio scored the other goal. Joe Palumbo bagged two assists with singles going to Luch Pinarello and Jim Schaefer.

Yale 8, Rutherford 0

Steve Smith led the way for Yale with four goals and two assists.

Robert Masutti had two goals and two assists with Grant Moffat providing one of each. Bernie Tisdale scored the other goal. Tony Dinis and Romas Krilivicius both had two assists with singles going to team rep James Heenan, team sponsor Al McFadyen and Bob McHardy.

The shutout went to Yale goaltender Pierre Drolet, who was mistakenly credited with one last week. That actually went to Heart Lake Insurance goalie Pat DiFrancesco.
