Title: Paramedics recognized for excellence

Three paramedics from Peel Region were among 38 people recognized Monday by Lt.-Gov. Elizabeth Dowdeswell for having provided pre-hospital emergency medical services to the public in an exemplary manner for a minimum of 30 years.
Robert Arthur received his second Second Bar for 40 years, while Sandra Kearsey and Brian Parkes were presented with their First Bars for 30 years.
A total of 55 individuals received this honour in 2017.
The Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal was created in 1994 by the late Governor General Romeo LeBlanc as a component of the Canadian Honours System. These bars are presented to paramedics who have served in a meritorious manner, characterized by the highest standards of good conduct, industry and efficiency. To qualify, at least 10 of these years of service must have been street level (or air) duty involving potential risk to the individual.
