Highway closed for hours Saturday after serious crash

Highway 10 in Caledon was closed for more than eight hours Saturday morning after a multi-vehicle collision.
Caledon OPP reports the accident happened at about 1:30 a.m. A northbound SUV made contact with another northbound vehicle, causing the SUV to suddenly veer into oncoming traffic of the southbound lanes. The northbound SUV then collided head-on with a southbound SUV.
One person was trapped for a period of time and required emergency services in order to be freed. One driver was taken to Brampton Civic Hospital with minor injuries. The other was transported to Sunnybrook hospital with serious injuries and has since been listed in stable condition.
Highway 10 was closed between Olde Base Line Road and King Street until just before 10 a.m. while the investigation continued and to allow road crews to clean up the roadway.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone who witnessed this collision or has any information that could assist in the investigation, is asked to contact Caledon OPP via the communication centre at 1-888-310-1122.
