Aug. 25 did not get off to a great start for a 22-year-old man from Cheltenham.
He ended up getting charged after Caledon OPP stopped a white 2013 Mercedes on Olde Base Line Road going well in excess of the posted speed limit.
Police said an officer was conducting radar enforcement at about 8:20 a.m. west of Mississauga Road when he spotted the car and determined it was going 121 km-h in a posted 50 zone.
The man was charged with racing a motor vehicle. His licence was suspended for seven days, and the car was seized for seven days too.
Police stated that stunt driving is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving. It puts all road users at risk and carries steep penalties upon conviction: $2,000 to $10,000 fine, six demerit points, up to six months in jail with up to a two-year licence suspension.
