65 trucks pulled off the road after safety inspections


The Traffic Unit of Caledon OPP conducted safety inspections on commercial motor vehicles Sept. 12 and 13, which resulted in 65 vehicles being pulled out of service.
The inspections were conducted in cooperation with personnel from the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia, as well as OPP officers from Haliburton, Peterborough County, Aurora and Dufferin County, along with members of Halton Regional Police, York Regional Police, Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police, Waterloo Regional Police, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance.
The Sept. 12 check took place on County Road 109, west of Highway 10. The one the following day was on George Bolton Parkway, east of Coleraine Drive.
The two days of checks saw 177 vehicles, meaning 36 per cent were taken out of service. As well, there were 107 charges laid under the Highway Traffic Act.
