Waste exemption period coming

From Sept. 5 to 14, Peel residents are offered a waste exemption period for their regularly scheduled garbage collection day.
Residents are encouraged to visit peelregion.ca/waste to check their collection calendar for their garbage exemption day.
During the waste exemption period, residents who receive curbside collection can place unlimited amounts of acceptable excess garbage and bulky items, such as furniture, at the curb, without garbage bag tags. Check How to Sort Your Waste to see if an item goes in the garbage.
Each excess garbage bag cannot weigh more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds), be larger than 66 centimetres (26 inches) wide and 90 centimetres (35 inches) high, or be smaller than 30 centimetres (12 inches) wide and 30 centimetres (12 inches) high.
Residents must ensure there is one metre of space between their excess bags, bulky items, garbage and organics carts.
Excess garbage will not be collected if it is placed at the curb during recycling week.
