Sessions on Closing the Gap coming to Exchange

The MIAG Centre for Diverse Women and Families will be holding a series of sessions entitled Closing the Gap: Building Service Providers’ Legal Capacity to Improve Access to Justice.
The first one will be tomorrow (Friday) at the Exchange, 55 Healey Rd. in Bolton from 9:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
The project is aimed at enhancing the capacity of service providers, including front-line workers, social workers, settlement workers, managers, community leaders and faith leaders to help identify and address any legal inquiries or problems that immigrants or refugees may face.
Topics to be dealt with include domestic violence and harassment; divorce, separation, forced marriage and marriage breakdown; custody and access of children; immigration law issues in family law; housing and social assistance in family law; employment law issues in family law; and parents’ rights towards their children.
Subsequent sessions will be held Aug. 23 and Sept. 1, 8, 13, 18 and 20.
