To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
This is the time for changeover at the Rotary Club of Palgrave, when the current president gives up the gavel and the podium and hands over the ceremonial license plate to the incoming president.
Last Wednesday we celebrated many successes.
There were Paul Harris Fellowship Award Recipients Brenda Alderdice, Krysta Cadden, Ian Kittle, Marie Jay, Jim Firth, Susan Hicks and Sandra Tomona, as well as Caledon East Foodland and Garden Foods.
Susan Hicks received the John Davidson Memorial Award for her work in Kenya and her work with First Nations. Sam Ferens was named Rotarian of the Year for her tremendous efforts as treasurer and her contributions to all our fundraising and community events.
As I reflect on my year as president, I am most proud of the accomplishments of the executive in working with our generous sponsors, the other clubs in the district and securing grant funds to assist with ongoing projects in the community.
It was an honour to serve the club and our community as president of this club, and I know that we are going to have another great year under the leadership of Doug Nicholson, a long-time member of our club and a former president also. We have such a great club of enthusiastic members who simply want to do good in our community and the world. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
