Annual Inside Ride a success at Mayfield School

Students, staff and supporters spent a couple of hours recently riding exercise bikes in the gym at Mayfield Secondary School.
The event was the annual Inside Ride, put on by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, and it raised more than $14,000 to fight childhood cancer and help with after-care treatment.
This year’s event was dedicated to Kevin Paschalis, 16, a Grade 11 student at Mayfield who’s been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was starting his last cycle of chemotherapy at the Hospital for Sick Children.
“He’s got wonderful friends,” his mother Jennifer, who was on hand for the event, declared. “As a cancer patient, that’s all you can ask for.”
Kevin’s friend John Milkovich called the activity “an amazing event,” stressing this year’s edition comes close to home.
“He’s a tough, strong Mayfield athlete,” he said of Kevin. “I’m humbled by his courage and strength.”

These students called their team Sink or Swim. The members are Julia Ungereanu, Juliet Boam, Kady Wellman, Kate Panzica, Piper Westlake and (on the bike) Angelyna Truong.

Team Canada consisted of Aiden Taylor, Hannah Longpre, Nathan Woods, Cole McNicol (on the bike), Kristin Seymour and Lindsay Appleton.

Maghan Scholz, Kira Klymciw, Stephanie Bisram, Jessica Marbella (on the bike), Jasmine Rana and Alexa DeJesus made up Team Guacamole.

These were The Incredibles. They consisted of Paisley Morrison, Alyssa Halls, Abbey Politeski, Aleshia Desilva W (on the bike), Esthe Cosgrove and Grace Paiva.
