Officers from the detachment will be hosting their annual Youth Leadership Program from Aug. 1 to 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this time, students will be provided the opportunity to engage in a variety of community activities while interacting with Caledon OPP officers and fellow students. Those interested in applying to the program must be a student between Grades 9 and 12, display a strong work ethic, be a team player, and possess a desire to contribute to their community in a meaningful way. Youths will be afforded the opportunity to partake in coordinated activities that contribute to and enhance the Town of Caledon and community agencies by participating in various tasks and activities related to leadership and team building, crime-prevention initiatives and supporting community agencies. Under direct guidance and supervision of OPP officers, they will be introduced to a wide variety of community service duties. Applicants will be required to submit an OPP permission form signed by their parent or guardian, along with a brief essay (roughly 250 to 500 words) written by the applicant outlining reasons for the interest in the program and identifying what the applicant has to offer. OPP permission forms are available at the front desk of the Caledon OPP detachment and at Caledon secondary schools. Return the permission form and essay attached to the detachment, to the attention of Constable Tamara Schubert, no later than July 1. Successful applicants will earn a sense of satisfaction from being able to give back to their community and attain 40 hours of community work as a part of their requirement for successful completion of high school. For more information regarding the program, feel free to contact Schubert at tamara.schubert@opp.ca The Youth Leadership Program, the annual week-long program involving local young people and run by Caledon OPP, received a boost recently from the Optimist Club of Caledon. The club made a $750 contribution to the program. Optimists Wayne Livingston and Susan Montgomery made the presentation to Sergeant Marcus Sanderson and Constables Tamara Schubert and Joe Brisebois.Photo by Bill Rea --------------------------------------------------- Images: https://caledoncitizen.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/22-opt-opp-5.5-300x200.jpg --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2017-07-02 12:07:32 Post date GMT: 2017-07-02 16:07:32 Post modified date: 2017-07-02 12:07:32 Post modified date GMT: 2017-07-02 16:07:32 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
