Caledon OPP on display at open house

May 26, 2017   ·   0 Comments

Caledon OPP was showing the community its best Saturday as it hosted an open house at the detachment station near Caledon East. There were plenty of young people on hand checking out the equipment, including this detachment motorcycle, which Constable Aaron Kok was watching as Cameron Tait, 4, of SouthFileds Village got a feel for.

The main attraction for the younger folks taking the tour of the station was the cells. Mike Koutsogiannopoulos, 7, of Brampton, Alex Bezdetko, 5, of SouthFields Village, his brother Timothy, 7, and Nathan Carruthers, 9, of Bolton, were pretty impressed with what they saw inside.

One of the highlights of the open house was the canine demonstration. Constable Vinny Hick was working with the main attraction Cash, named after Johnny Cash.

Constable Tamara Schubert, community safety officer, was providing a sample of her own breath in one of the Approved Screening Devices for taking breath samples.

Constable Pablo Perreira was hard at work at the grill at the barbecue.

Constable Derek Szeto and Sergeant Jeff Barker were manning this display of equipment used by the Urban Search, Rescue, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive Response Team (UCRT).

Alisha Khan, 9, of SouthFields Village was going through the experience of having her fingerprints taken, assisted by acting sergeant Kate Leppington.

Caledon Parks and recreation were on hand for fun stuff for the younger folks to do, including face painting. Inspector Ryan Carothers, detachment commander, was checking things out with Maya Wojciechowski, 7, watched as her sister Julia, 7, got her face painted by Jordyn Ihasz.
